St. Vincent de Paul Center invites families and neighbors to the 11th Annual Summer Safety Festival, sponsored by Alderman Michelle Smith and Children's Memorial Hospital, being held on the Center's campus at the corner of Halsted and Webster on Saturday, August 6th from 9:00am until noon. The free event is aimed at keeping Chicago's children active and safe throughout the busy summer season.
The festival offers a wide variety of ways to keep children of all ages safe as they navigate their way through summer activities in the city. The first 150 young cyclists will receive a free bicycle helmet courtesy of Village Cycle Center, and the Safety Squad will provide information on bicycle safety as well as proper car seat installation. In addition, the City of Chicago's Bike Ambassadors will demonstrate smart ways to lock bikes, proper helmet fittings, and other safety tips.
The event will also include music and entertainment by the Old Town School of Folk Music, goody bags, refreshments, and a raffle.
For more information on the Summer Safety Festival, please contact 43rd Ward Alderman Michelle Smith at (773) 348-9500.
