Ok, I’ll kick off our fun new feature.  In fact, this is THE DATE that inspired the Date Night series.  We were sitting on the patio of the Shedd, drinking some wine, listening to some jazz, looking at our incredible skyline and a light bulb went off.  THIS is a great date.   One of many that Chicago has to offer!  Here’s how you do Jazzin' at the Shedd:

1. Come to Navy Pier.   Work your way through the Pier to the end. There's a great beer garden with live music and cool drinks.  (See who’s playing here - http://www.chicagosbestbeergarden.com/)  You can grab a bite on the Pier, too!

2.Take the Shoreline water taxi from Navy Pier to the Museum Campus.  (You can find the schedule here - http://shorelinesightseeing.com/watertaxis/watertaxis-routemap-and-rates/)

3.Enjoy the music, view, booze, food and fishes.  From 5-10 through September 5th.  As the sun sets, the city cools and glows.  The view looking from the Shedd pavilion is postcard perfect – the water, the beaches, the skyline and Lake Shore Drive all twinkle from dusk to dark.  The music ain't bad either.  (http://sheddaquarium.org/jazzin.html)

4.With a perfect view of the Navy Pier Fireworks, be sure you don't leave the Shedd before 9:30.  That's when the display happens on Wednesdays (http://www.navypier.com/things2do/fireworks.html) and why the Shedd picked the middle of the week for their festivities.

Watch the water taxi schedule or cab it back to Navy Pier.  It can be tough to catch a  cab on the Museum Campus if you are there late so plan to schedule or hail or cab or don’t miss the boat!  If you've got the time, it’s a healthy walk but a lovely one back to Michigan Ave and Roosevelt.  You can definitely find cabs and the red line there.
