The slaying of the teen, identified as Eric Navarro, of Whitehall Avenue in Northlake, was discovered July 10 about 5:15 p.m., when someone found the body behind the 4200 block of West Madison Street in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, police said.
Charged with first-degree murder in the slaying was Mariusz J. Nowak, 20, of the 300 block of East Armitage Avenue in Northlake. Two others were charged with concealing a homicidal death: Christopher J. Gerken, of the 300 block of West Hirsch Avenue, in Northlake, and Luis Lira, 18, of an unconfirmable address, according to a Chicago police notification. All three are believed to be members of the Pachuco street gang, police said.
The 17-year-old was lured to a location in Northlake "under false pretenses," supposedly to a party, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez. He was then beaten severely by multiple people, according to police, before being taken to West Madison Street and left in a Dumpster, police said.
Police were not releasing information on the motive for the beating.
An autopsy Saturday by the medical examiner's office revealed the teen died of multiple injuries from an assault, and his death was ruled a homicide.
Harrison Area detectives, gang investigations officers and the Northlake Police Department cooperated in the investigation, police said.
The three accused were expected to appear in Cook County Bond Court today.
