The Staunton River Golden Eagles made the short trip down route 24 Friday night to take on Jeff Highfill's William Byrd squad.  Plenty was on the line, as the loser is all but eliminated from playoff contention.

The Terriers were hot, winners in three of their last four.  Staunton River went three and out early, but Byrd then muffed the punt and the Golden Eagles fall on it.

Four plays later, Deshaun Martin goes nine yards for the touchdown, that's how ya do it and the Eagles were on top 6-nothing following a botched point after.

Simeon Horstmann then put the Terriers on his back.  He rips off a nifty little run off the left side.  Horstmann scoots 42 yards and that setup the home team at the 25 of Staunton River.

That led to this.  Zac Hill scampers in on the scoring run on the draw play.  The two point conversion put Byrd up 8-6 in the second quarter.

Staunton River wins 24 to 20.
