Vanessa Bolano joined WGNO News in October 2009. She moved from North Texas where she was a reporter/ fill-in anchor for two years at KTEN, the NBC affiliate in Denison.

Before moving to Texas, Vanessa hosted an environmental program on "City of Miami TV," co-hosted a sports podcast, and worked as an associate producer at WFOR, the CBS owned and operated station in Miami.

Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Vanessa grew up speaking both English and Spanish. Her parents, both immigrants from Cuba, met in South Florida.

Vanessa earned a Masters Degree from the University of Miami in Broadcast Journalism, and was honored with the "Award of Excellence." She received a Bachelors Degree from Boston College. While studying, Vanessa found time to intern with MSNBC, Univision Networks, WFOR, WSVN, and volunteer at University of Miami's award winning student produced newscast "NewsVision" as a reporter, anchor, editor and producer.

Vanessa is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, and enjoys volunteering with Loyola Law School's Environmental Law & Maritime Law Societies.

She now lives in Uptown with her husband and their two turtles. In her spare time, Vanessa loves to explore New Orleans by finding interesting shops, restaurants and activities around the city.
