  9. Dallas Ranks High Among State's Most Congested Roadways

The DFW area has some of the most congested roadways in the state. The Texas Department of Transportation and Texas Transportation Institute just released a study showing that four of the state's ten worst trouble spots are in the metroplex. The worst among them, IH 635 between IH 35E, followed by Woodall Rodgers Freeway between IH 35 and US 75, IH 35W in Tarrant County between IH 30 and SH 183, and US 75 between IH 635 and Woodall Rodgers Freeway.  A good economy and a resulting increase in popultion could be to blame. TxDOT officials tell us that construction is underway to help increase road capacity and decrease delays on IH 635.  Other options being considered are transit and bike trails.  According to the TxDOT study, the delays have cost Dallas-Fort Worth drivers almost $185 million during 2010.
