Highlights
Designed in the early 1870s by the first generation of landscape architects among whom were Frederick Law Olmsted, the designer of New York City's Central Park, and Robert Morris Copeland, who laid out the original plan for the Heights as a community with residences, open space for parks and a hotel. By 1890, the current layout was defined and today it is essentially the same.
