  1. Feral cats can be managed

In his recent commentary, George Fenwick calls cats "invasive" and "not part of the natural environment," blaming cats for billions of bird and rodent deaths ("The destructive invasive species purring on your lap," Feb. 26). He claims that trap, neuter, return (TNR) programs are a failed strategy and asks for local governments to gather millions of unowned cats and "euthanize" those for which homes cannot be found. Sadly, his claims are not based on facts.

  19. County not doing homework on Mays Chapel school

Once again, the motivation and reasoning of the Mays Chapel residents regarding the proposed new school have not been fully addressed with a clear and honest analysis ("Mays Chapel residents sue county, school board over land transaction," March 28). The rationale presented in this article for the community's opposition is limited to enjoyment of the park, traffic and property values. This report completely overlooks the most important reasons for objecting to this particular school construction project.
