17. Crime & Punishment: East Haven official posts about killing people on a message board

East Haven Democratic Town Committee Chairman Gene Ruocco is "embarrassed" by the comments he left on the East Haven Patch website but told the New Haven Register he doesn't see why they've been viewed as threatening. The posts were in response to one of many articles on the town's police racial profiling debacle. Writing as "Josy Whales" (after an outlaw played by Clint Eastwood), Ruocco declared, "There is a new gunslinger in town and you and people like you are in my sights," presumably meaning East Haven's Republican mayor and police officers he has supported. Ruocco added, "The end is near and people will be going to the gallows... I will stop these fools in their tracks. Keep your good ear to the ground, you will hear me coming. But they won't. BANG BANG!!!!!!!!!!" Police traced the comments to Ruocco but did not file charges. He is refusing to give up his chairmanship, saying he has done "nothing but good for the town."
