John Tegler, jazz and talk radio broadcaster, remembered as a 'keeper of the flame'

Severna Park resident John Tegler, a noted jazz and talk radio broadcaster whose interests stretched from history and foreign policy to writing and airplane racing, died Oct. 7 after suffering a heart attack. He was 82. He was perhaps best known for his love of jazz and he shared that passion with thousands of radio listeners through his "Jazz Straight Ahead" show on Baltimore's WEAA, and all those who had a chance to know him. He also had a show called "Capital Conversation" on talk-radio WCBM, which he had stopped about 18 months ago.
