James J. Cain Jr., a retired National Security Agency official whose career spanned more than four decades, died Saturday at his Severna Park home. He was 76. The son of James J. Cain Sr. and Mary Kate Rogan Cain, James John Cain Jr. was born in Baltimore and raised on Nicholas Avenue in Northeast Baltimore. After serving in the Air Force, Mr. Cain, who earned a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Maryland, College Park, began his 41-year career with the NSA in 1960.
