Nearly 500 Labinal Power Systems layoffs to start in July

Labinal Power Systems plans to cut nearly 500 jobs from its manufacturing plant in Salisbury starting in July, as the defense contractor starts layoffs connected to the shutdown of its Eastern Shore operations. The 480 layoffs, to start in July and extend through December 2016, were disclosed Friday by the state Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, which received notice from the company as required by law under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification act.
