I had several disappointments with XXX: State of the Union. First of all like all action movies, the script blew. I can probably assume correctly that the script was like 3 pages long. Basically, the new XXX is taken out of prison to track down the people/person in charged of bombing out a highly secretive U.S. government security agency. I can count on less than 10 fingers how many lines the actors had each in this movie. With the exception of some sly remarks from Ice Cube, nothing was really said. I mean, not that the acting was bad, but because of a lack of a real script, the movie was extremely predictable and unrealistic. The plot (if it even deserves the name "plot") was to blow up junk and catch the bad guy! Such a bad movie insulted the acting skills of Samuel L. Jackson, Ice Cube, and Peter Strauss.
Another thing I did not like about this movie was the incorporation of African Americans as these underground, black market crooners. Rapper Xihibit makes a cameo in the movie and he plays as a friend of XXX and an underground extreme mechanic. Like can black people any decent roles now and days!? Jackson is one of my prized actors and I wanted to puke at his character. And there were also characters that had no real place in the movie. Like Ice Cube has a love interest that helps him get some gear to topple the antagonist in the movie. I would say she was in like 4 scenes and said a lot of nothing. There was a lot of that in movie. Actors basically taking up space to make the movie look well planned out .I think not!!! I mean the biggest upset was that the lack of lines contributed to the overexposure of special effects and stunts.
