Walk into a crowded room. Who's the cornerback?
South Bend Tribune Staff Writer
Walk into a crowded room. Who's the cornerback? "The cornerback is usually the life of the party - that's just his personality," said Shane Walton, who was a cornerback for the best years of his football life. "The cornerback is always walking the line...

3. Wes' Mess: Can't root against Brees in XLIV

I first crossed paths with Drew Brees at a very wet and muddy (preview of Sunday?) Purdue Spring game in 1998. Sophomore-to-be Brees threw a TD pass to Vinny Sutherland ( the living embodiment of Tweeder from "Varsity Blues") in a heavy rain. The Texan had big shoes to fill that fall, replacing the departing Big Ten MVP, Billy Dicken. Suddenly expectations were high for Boilermaker football, Joe Tiller brought a bowl win his first year and Drew was at the controls of the "Basketball on Grass" attack.

It might have been the best play Marques Tuiasosopo ran all day, sprinting out of the locker room with a sprained shoulder, charging back onto the field in the fourth quarter when his team needed him most. “I was mad,” Tuiasosopo said. “I just wanted...

D'OH I: Paul Edinger's overtime kickoff went out of bounds, giving the Lions the ball on their 40, where even a rookie quarterback on perhaps the worst team outside of Cincinnati could move an offense into position so one of the best field-goal kickers in...
