Youthful Harford athletes place well in AAU Junior Olympics qualifying

Jazlyn Ware of the Joppatowne Roadrunners Club won two events in the AAU Region 3 Track and Field Championships in Baltimore June 27-28. Ware, who attends Prospect Mill Elementary in Bel Air, won the 100- and 400-meter dashes in the 8-and-under age group. She ran 1:14.44 in winning the 400 by a margin of 3.4 seconds. She clocked 15.27 seconds in the 100 to win by about 4 meters. She also placed third in the 200 in 32.24. Athletes from Maryland and D.C. competed in the meet in nine age divisions, with the top six finishers in each running event and the top five in field events qualifying for the AAU Junior Olympics in Norfolk, Va., Aug. 3-8.
