The Baltimore Blast is a soccer team that plays in the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL). The Blast came into existence in 1980 and captured its first MISL title during the 1983-84 season, winning the championship before 12,007 fans at what was then called the Baltimore Civic Center. The Blast won back-to-back titles in 2003-04 and won the title again in 2006. Before coming to Baltimore, the Blast was the Houston Summit. In 1992, the MISL ceased operations, and several Blast players joined the Baltimore Spirit, a franchise in the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL).
