New year brings 140 runners out for traditional run in Joppa

A record number of runners turned out Jan. 1 in Joppa for a traditional New Year's Day battle against steep hills and cold winds. One-hundred forty runners raced over an unpleasantly hilly course along Old Joppa Road and Jerusalem Mill Road in the RASAC New Year's Day 10K. It was the club's 40th annual new year's race, and like the 39 others, it was the year's first test of resolve for local runners.
