Wihelmina Austin is top performer for Towson indoor track team

Wilhelmina Austin of Edgewood was honored for her performance in the Gulden Invitational indoor track and field meet in Lewisburg, Pa., Saturday.

The Towson University sophomore won the long jump and placed second in the triple jump after leading the competition until the final leap. With the 18 points she scored, she led the Tigers to third place in the meet, held in the Bucknell University fieldhouse.

Austin, who holds the Harford County record in the triple jump, was named Outstanding Field Event Performer of the meet. The 19-year-old actuarial science major long-jumped 17 feet, 11 1/2 inches and triple-jumped 37-1. The two marks rank in Towson's top-10 all-time bests for...
