  9. Robert W. Flowers, 83, formerly of Garrett

    Robert W. Flowers, 83, passed away May 24, 2012, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Imogene D. (Shrader) Flowers, to whom he was married for 63 years on May 21, 2012. Born Jan. 22, 1929, in Garrett, a son of the late Hiram A. and Margaret K. (Mimna) Flowers, he had worked in the Somerset area in coal mines and as a milkman. Upon moving to Thomasville, Mr. Flowers worked and retired from Thomasville Stone and Lime Co. Following his retirement, he was a crane operator for a local roofing company. Robert was a member of Bible Baptist Church, loved cutting wood, woodworking, and being in the outdoors. During the winter Bob was happiest when the snow was falling and he could enjoy the white weather. In addition to his wife, Mr. Flowers is survived by a daughter, Susan E. and husband Michael Myers, Thomasville; a granddaughter, Melissa and husband Mark Kahley; a great-granddaughter, Taryn Kahley; four sisters, Margaret Lenhart, Hanover, Mary Ann Albright, York, Evelyn Fox, Parma, Ohio, and Cheryl Grew, Meyersdale; and a brother, Paul Flowers, Etters. A viewing will be held from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bible Baptist Church, 4190 Susquehanna Trail North, York. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with Pastor Ron Wetstein officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Roth’s Reformed Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Bible Baptist Church, 4190 Susquehanna Trail North, York, PA 17404. Online condolences may be made at www.BestLifeTributes.com.
