Running: Survivor Run 5K is a race for awareness and winning

The footrace Phil Anderson is passionate about drew a full house Sunday in Bel Air. His annual Survivor Run 5K reached its entry limit of 300 well before the runners raced from the starting line in pursuit of winners Tyler Muse and Jenn Bouffard. Anderson, a veteran of more than 110 races of 26 miles or longer, developed the race four years ago after he suffered a stroke in 2007. The 67-year-old Bel Air resident returned to running a year later, but his passion became making people aware of the risks and warning signs of stroke, the leading cause of adult disability in the U.S. His personal message is that running and fitness do not immunize a person from stroke.
