Thornton F. Green, a retired IRS tax specialist and World War II veteran, died June 29 of pancreatic cancer at his Annapolis home. He was 91.
Mr. Green, the son of government workers, was born in Wellsboro, Pa., and raised in Riverdale.
After graduating in 1939 from McKinley Technology High School in Washington, Mr. Green attended the University of Maryland, College Park.
Because of the impending war, he earned a bachelor's degree in economics and accounting in 1943 in an accelerated wartime program.
Mr. Green enlisted in the Army and served in Europe at VIII Corps headquarters. He participated in the campaigns for Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes Rhineland...
