Veteran midfielder Kyle Dixon was not among the 23 players protected by the Chesapeake Bayhawks on Friday. The Archbishop Spalding product is coming off his worst season in Major League Lacrosse, playing in just five of 14 games and totaling five points on a two-point goal and three assists. Dixon, the franchise’s No. 1 draft pick in 2006, has amassed 281 points during his nine-year professional career. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound midfielder, known for a wicked crank shot and the ability to dodge left or right with equal ease, has 133 goals and 93 assists.
