  7. Five for Friday: Five reasons for Orioles optimism in 2011

The Orioles have given Baltimore 13 straight seasons of losing baseball, a streak that would make them the laughingstock of the major leagues if not for that train wreck of an organization in Pittsburgh. There still has been plenty of giggling at the Orioles’ expense since 1997, but for the first time in what feels like a long time, people are taking the Orioles seriously heading into 2011.

  9. Let's all give our predictions for the Orioles' batting order

We will see a totally different lineup in 2011 after the Orioles upgraded at four positions this offseason. Gone are the instant outs of Julio Lugo and Cesar Izturis (well, at least Izturis will only be an instant out once or twice a week), replaced with intriguing hitters such as Vladimir Guerrero, Mark Reynolds and Derrek Lee.

  11. Back to reality for Orioles

The momentum from Tuesday's improbable Orioles comeback at Camden Yards undoubtedly had legs for most of Wednesday afternoon.
The momentum from Tuesday's improbable Orioles comeback at Camden Yards undoubtedly had legs for most of Wednesday afternoon. Key hits were falling in, Boston's ace was falling apart and Brad Bergesen, the Orioles' rookie pitching sensation, was mowing...

  13. Scalping at a spring training game?

    Special to Baltimoresun.com
There are two phrases that strike fear in this baseball fan: "rained out" and "sold out." I had dodged a bullet in Lakeland when the Tigers-Phillies game I attended was delayed by 40 minutes due to rain. However, that game was played, and the afternoon...

  21. Red Sox Lester's comeback now includes no-hitter

    O, by the Way
There may not be a lot of love for the Red Sox in these parts but you'd have to be the Grinch that Hates Baseball to not feel good for Jon Lester, Boston's 24-year-old pitcher who threw a no-hitter last night......

  23. This week in fantasy baseball

In need of speed? It's out there, if you know where to look. While stolen base stalwarts such as Juan Pierre and Carlos Beltran stumble out of the gate, plenty of others are getting it done on the basepaths, including a couple of fresh faces in Houston....
