Jamie Benn's trophy-winning night gives Stars sweet end to tough season

DALLAS In a fluky finish that was befitting for this Stars season, Jamie Benn won the Art Ross Trophy as the leading scorer in the NHL with 8.5 seconds left in a 4-1 win over the Nashville Predators on Saturday. Benn, who finished with three goals and an assist, moved ahead of John Tavares of the Islanders with two plays that were both lucky and smart. Protecting a 2-1 lead, Benn flipped a clearing pass 154 feet into an empty net with 2:05 remaining in the game. That gave Benn just the second hat trick of his career, but left him tied with Tavares at 86 points.
