Hurricanes outlast Avalanche in shootout, 3-2

RALEIGH, N.C. The Colorado Avalanche beat the Carolina Hurricanes earlier this season with a late comeback. The Canes refused to let the Avs do it again. Carolina allowed the Avs to rally for two third-period scores but then won a shootout for a 3-2 victory at PNC Arena. Victor Rask and Elias Lindholm scored shootout goals for the Canes (14-24-5) against Avs goalie Calvin Pickard. Canes goalie Anton Khudobin denied Nathan MacKinnon and Matt Duchene to end it.
