On Thursday afternoon, Florida Panthers goaltender Roberto Luongo skated for the first time since he suffered a lower-body injury on Dec. 4 against the New York Islanders.
Luongo worked on the ice with goalie coach Robb Tallas before the rest of the Panthers practiced later in the afternoon. Mostly, Luongo worked on his glove and blocker while on his knees in front of the net.
“He’s done a lot of rehab when we were gone,” Panthers coach Bob Boughner said. “I talked to him after he got off. He said he felt pretty good. Obviously, he’s got a long way to go. But there’s definitely been some great progression. It’s nice to see him get the equipment back on.”
