Jokinen posted career highs in goals (39), assists (52), points (91) and plus/minus rating (plus-18) in 2006-07 after achieving career highs in all four categories the previous season. Jokinen was acquired from the New York Islanders, along with Roberto Luongo, in a trade June 24, 2000. In return, the Islanders received Mark Parrish and Oleg Kvasha. Jokinen signed a four-year, $21 million contract extension on March 9, 2006. He's the Panthers' all-time leader in points, goals, consecutive games played and game-winning goals - surpassing Scott Mellanby in those first two categories and Robert Svehla in consecutive games played all during the 2007-08 season. Born Dec. 5, 1978 in Kuopio, Finland, Jokinen joined the National Hockey League as the Los Angeles Kings' first choice (No. 3 overall) in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft. At the time, he was tied with Aki Berg as the highest-drafted Finnish player in NHL history. Jokinen's childhood idol was countryman Esa Tikkanen. Jokinen was traded to the Islanders in 1999 and played one season for them before being traded to the Florida Panthers. Jokinen has also represented Finland in the Olympics and World Championships. He's married to wife, Katerina, has two daughters, Alexandra and Emma and lives in Parkland, Florida.
