Penguins extinguish Flames, 3-1

PITTSBURGH The Penguins pounced on the Calgary Flames early Friday night at Consol Energy Center, then held off one of the NHL's most resurgent teams by a score of 3-1. The Penguins, now 19-6-3, took a quick 2-0 lead in the first period with goals from Blake Comeau just 48 seconds in, and a tip-in by Kris Letang at 4:43. Comeau's goal was a wrister from the top of the right circle that beat Jonas Hiller over his blocker. Letang's came after he headed straight to the net after digging the puck from the corner and redirected a shot by Simon Despres at the point.
