Shootout stings Red Wings again in 3-2 loss to Panthers

DETROIT The overall performance was better, good enough, anyway, to yield one point. The Detroit Red Wings hosted the Florida Panthers on Friday at Joe Louis Arena, and ended up losing in a shootout, 3-2, to a team that had just as poor a record in the skills event as the Wings. Pavel Datsyuk and Gustav Nyquist both failed to convert, while Vincent Trocheck and Brandon Pirri both bested Jimmy Howard. The one point means the Wings have points in nine of their last 10 games.
