Penguins snag 2-1 overtime victory from Devils

NEWARK, N.J. Simon Despres scored on a wrist shot from the high slot at 2:21 of overtime to give the Penguins a 2-1 victory against New Jersey at the Prudential Center tonight. The victory snapped a run of consecutive losses in Newark for the Penguins, who are 2-3-2 in their past seven games. They are 28-13-8 and have pulled to within one point of the first-place New York Islanders in the Metropolitan Division. The Penguins played without defenseman Christian Ehrhoff, who is being checked for a possible concussion, and winger Beau Bennett, who was a healthy scratch after getting just one point, a goal, in the previous eight games.
