Capitals' Ovechkin named captain for All-Star Game

Washington Capitals left wing Alex Ovechkin will be the Metropolitan Division's captain in the NHL All-Star Game in Nashville, Tenn., on Jan. 25 after receiving the most fan votes of any player in the division. Through 36 games, Ovechkin has 21 goals and 13 assists. The new format for the All-Star Game is a three-game tournament played in a three-on-three format, with four teams that represent each division. A fan vote decided the captain of each division's team, and the remaining 40 players will be determined by the NHL Hockey Operations Department and announced Wednesday.
