NHL salary cap set at $73 million

The NHL salary cap will be $73 million next season, a jump of $1.6 million from last season's cap, the league and the player's association announced Wednesday. 

The NHL spending floor will be $54 million.

The jump is a bit of good news for the Blackhawks, who have to find a way to accomodate extensions and raises of $1 million-plus for Brent Seabrook, Marcus Kruger and Artem Anisimov, all of which take effect next season. The team must also make room for the $2.575 million in bonuses winger Artemi Panarin earned, most of which will count against next season's cap.
