Guess what. If you follow American sports, you support a system that celebrates and rewards mediocrity. Sorry. Some call it “parity.” They’re fools. It’s codified adequacy.
But there is a solution to ensure that we see the best and the brightest: American sports need relegation, that wonderful, unrewarding thing where bad teams get banished to a lower division.
Pro sports in the U.S., as it exists now, laugh in the face of the notion of American exceptionalism. Crap teams get rewarded with their pick of the best players available in the draft that helps stock teams with talent. Why? Give them more money and a prize for competing while you’re at it.
