CMW's Matt Riggins just shy of a state title in 55-meter dash

Matt Riggins' bid for a state title in the 55-meter dash ended about one foot short of victory Monday in the MPSSAA Class 3A State Indoor Track and Field Meet in Landover. The C. Milton Wright senior finished second in the dash, 2 hundredths behind winner Glen Taylor of Atholton. Riggins was timed automatically in 6.50 seconds. His sister, Christina Riggins, a CMW sophomore, placed sixth in the girls' 55. She finished in 7.31, as one-tenth of a second separated places two through six.
