Baltimore gymnast places 45th in world championship

A Roland Park Country School senior placed 45th in the all-around competition on Wednesday at the World Gymnastics Championship in Antwerp, Belgium.

Toni-Ann Williams, who trains at United Gymnastix in Reisterstown, was competing against 134 athletes from 57 countries, including United States Olympians McKayla Maroney and Kyla Ross. Williams was 37th on floor exercise and 38th on vault.

Williams, who is also a Jamaican citizen, became the first athlete to compete internationally for that country in women's artistic gymnastics.

Williams has verbally commited to the University of California-Berkeley, according to a statement released by United Gymnastix.
