As a freshman during the 2010 season, Burton broke a Florida record accounting for six touchdowns in the Gators' 48-14 win over Kentucky. He ran for five scores and caught a pass from John Brantley to pass the record of four touchdowns by a freshman set by DeShawn Wynn in 2003 against Florida A&M.
