King Leatherbury a first-time finalist for Hall of Fame

Laurel Park-based trainer King Leatherbury, who turns 82 this month, is one of 10 finalists for induction to the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame. It's Leatherbury's first appearance on the ballot. The class of 2015 will be announced April 20, with the ceremony taking place Aug. 7 in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Leatherbury, a Baltimore native who attended Maryland, is one of five trainers to top 6,000 career wins, ranking fourth with 6,449 and counting. His horses have won 23 graded stakes.
