1. Could McCoy's new extension be a template for Rice deal?

If you were wondering what Ray Rice's reaction was to LeSean McCoy's new contract extension with the Philadelphia Eagles, the Ravens' running back wasted little time responding to the news.

  3. Derrick Mason likely to retire as Raven

For six seasons, Derrick Mason left cornerbacks slipping on the turf with his signature comeback routes — cuts that were sharp, surgical, and effective. Now, as he sprints into life after football, Mason may soon swerve back to Baltimore to retire as a member of the Ravens.

  5. Wilde Lake's Brown now a Titan

As a three-sport standout at Wilde Lake High School from 2004 to 2007, Zach Brown stood head and shoulders above the competition. As a senior he rushed for more than 1,500 yards and 20 touchdowns, was a state champion sprinter in outdoor track and was an undefeated state champion wrestler.

  9. Bits & Pieces: Wilde Lake's Zach Brown is picked 52nd by Titans in NFL draft

It's an exciting time to be a football fan in Howard County. In 2009, Mt. Hebron grad Aaron Maybin, who played college football at Penn State, was a first-round pick (11th overall) of the Buffalo Bills and is now making a name for himself with the New...

  11. Matt Vensel's 2012 NFL mock draft -- version 4.0

The 2012 NFL draft is now just over a week away. Free agency has died down, and teams are shifting their focus to the draft to round out their rosters. The Ravens are no exception. Their primary needs are still the same as they were entering the offseason: offensive line help, a pass rusher and a receiver.

  13. Matt Vensel's 2012 NFL mock draft -- version 5.0

Finally, after months of teams poking and prodding NFL draft prospects, scouts picking apart players they had previously pumped up, and media folks like me doing hours of homework trying to make sense of it all, the 2012 NFL draft is less than 48 hours away. I would be lying if I told you that part of me wasn’t ready for all of this just to be over and done with, but still, draft weekend is easily my favorite weekend on the NFL calendar.

  15. NFL free agency primer: cornerbacks

A year ago, Ravens fans dreamed of Nnamdi Asomugha, the star free agent cornerback who eventually signed with the Philadelphia Eagles. After all, the secondary was an area where the Ravens needed to improve.

  17. NFL free agency primer: safety

In the last installment of our position-by-position free agency primers, we will look at the safeties. The Ravens will likely have holes to fill at safety, but they aren’t going to be in the market for a high-priced free agent, not with Ed Reed returning in 2012 and not after strong safety Bernard Pollard fit in so well in his first season in Baltimore.

  19. Ravens' Harbaugh: 'We have to upgrade the offensive line'

Three weeks into free agency, the Ravens have retained starting linebacker Jameel McClain, added to their defensive back depth and upgraded their special teams. But one of their glaring offseason needs remains virtually untouched.

  21. Which remaining free agents might fit with Ravens?

We’re 48 hours into free agency, and the Ravens have got just one player -- linebacker Chavis Williams, <a href="http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/ravens-insider/bal-ravens-bring-back-linebacker-chavis-williams-20120315,0,4838219.story" target="_blank">who played five games for them in 2011 -- to sign on the dotted line. But around the NFL, many of the top unrestricted free agents have come off the board, led by defensive end Mario Williams, who just received one of the biggest contracts in NFL history from the Buffalo Bills.

  23. Ravens would like to add a veteran guard, but options are mostly underwhelming

The Ravens have said on several occasions that they plan to give second-year tackle Jah Reid every opportunity to win the left guard job and replace Pro Bowl performer Ben Grubbs. They have a history of giving younger players opportunities, so there is no reason to think that is lip service. But that doesn’t mean that they won’t also bring in a veteran to compete for the job and serve as insurance. That remains very much in the team’s plans, and they have spoken to several agents of guards to discuss potential fits. However, the Ravens don’t have a whole lot of money to spend and there are not a whole lot of quality options at their disposal. Below is a look at 10 guards that they have considered:
