Albany ends second-seeded Terps' field hockey season

The second-seeded Maryland field hockey team threatened often throughout its NCAA Division I tournament quarterfinal matchup with visiting Albany, but the Big Ten Conference regular-season champions could not overcome a slow start in a 2-1 upset loss. The Terps (19-4) controlled the ball for much of the match but did not score until the final minutes. Great Danes goalkeeper Maxi Primus stopped seven of 11shots. With her team trailing 2-0, Maryland coach Missy Meharg pulled redshirt senior goalkeeper Brooke Cabrera for an extra field player with 8:22 remaining. It worked when senior forward Welma Luus scored less than two minutes later for a 2-1 game, but Albany (20-2) held on for the win....
