1. Cornerback Cary Williams optimistic about a long-term deal

Ravens cornerback Cary Williams attended Wednesday’s organized team activity, marking the second straight week he has been on hand for the voluntary workouts. His presence was notable because he is recovering from offseason hip surgery and also because of his clouded contract situation.

  3. He has Hall of Fame backing

BEREA, Ohio — For Trent Richardson, the pressure of following in Emmitt Smith's footsteps was inescapable. Richardson tried to carve his own path while playing running back at Escambia High School in Pensacola, Fla., which produced all-time NFL...

  5. Even after drafting Pierce, the Ravens still have decisions to make at running back

Here is a question that the Ravens will have to answer in the coming weeks: Will they be comfortable going into the season without an experienced backup behind Ray Rice?

  7. Matt Vensel's 2012 NFL mock draft -- version 4.0

The 2012 NFL draft is now just over a week away. Free agency has died down, and teams are shifting their focus to the draft to round out their rosters. The Ravens are no exception. Their primary needs are still the same as they were entering the offseason: offensive line help, a pass rusher and a receiver.

  9. Looking at the past 10 selections at No. 29 in the NFL draft

As you know, the Ravens hold the 29th pick in next week’s NFL draft. Being the only NFL team that has made the playoffs in each of the past four seasons, they have grown accustomed to drafting at the tail end of the first round. They have entered the draft with the No. 26, 25, 26 and 29 picks the past four years, respectively.

  11. Matt Vensel's 2012 NFL mock draft -- version 5.0

Finally, after months of teams poking and prodding NFL draft prospects, scouts picking apart players they had previously pumped up, and media folks like me doing hours of homework trying to make sense of it all, the 2012 NFL draft is less than 48 hours away. I would be lying if I told you that part of me wasn’t ready for all of this just to be over and done with, but still, draft weekend is easily my favorite weekend on the NFL calendar.

  13. NFL just did it: New Nike uniforms aren't off the charts

The NFL is rolling out its new Nike uniforms today in Brooklyn, where at least one player from each NFL team is on hand to model the newly designed jerseys. Players already are tweeting about their "new age" on-field fashions, and the NFL is staging the reveal like it's a Broadway production.

  15. Not crazy about new Ravens uniforms

If the unveiling of the Seattle Seahawks new uniforms are any indication, Nike has come up with a sleeker, more space-age look for the new jerseys, which are said to be 20 percent lighter and 50 percent stronger. They're also 50 percent uglier, too cold and futuristic-looking, if you ask me. New design on the shoulders adorned with -- naturally -- a Nike swoosh -- is right out of "Star Wars."

  17. Looking back at the Ravens' best free-agent signings

The Ravens aren’t expected to take a cannonball dive into the talent pool when free agency begins Tuesday at 4 p.m. So here are my condolences in advance if you purchased a custom-made, purple Vincent Jackson or Mario Williams jersey in anticipation of the Ravens signing one of those stars this offseason.

  19. 2012 NFL free agency primer: the defensive linemen

Houston Texans defensive end turned outside linebacker Mario Williams will be the marquee free agent this offseason not named Peyton Manning. (Interesting side note: The Texans drafted Williams No. 1 overall in part due to Manning’s presence in the AFC South and now they will both hit the market at the same time.) He is a natural at defensive end in a 4-3 defense, but did well enough in 2011 to garner interest from 3-4 teams.

Unless you count Mario Williams, a defensive end who can also play outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense, there won’t be any marquee linebackers available in free agency this offseason. 23. NFL uniform changes equal a swoosh and a yawn

After nearly an hour of buildup Tuesday morning, the NFL and Nike -- the apparel company which has replaced Reebok as the league’s official apparel supplier -- revealed new uniforms for each of the 32 NFL teams at an event in New York City. Seconds later, those images were transmitted out into the blogosphere.
