The No. 11 Lake Clifton boys basketball team found itself in unfamiliar territory, trailing for most of the game Friday.
But a switch in defense and free throws down the stretch changed the Lakers' fortune in a 56-52 win over Centennial at the IAABO Tournament.
The Eagles, coming off a 50-45 win Thursday over Digital Harbor, attacked the rim and led 22-19 at the break. Lake Clifton coach Herman "Tree" Harried switched the defense to a half-court trap and jumped the ball to stop Centennial from driving into the lane.
The Lakers (6-1) took the lead with five minutes to go and made their free throws, going 23-for-30 in the game to win.
