1. Who will be in this season's Super Bowl?

Patriots vs. Packers
Patriots vs. Packers Ken Murray Baltimore Sun In the AFC, Rex Ryan has painted a bull's-eye on his Jets. No question, his defense has credentials. But his passing game is vulnerable and his quarterback is shaky in the red zone. More likely, it will...

3. Pagano, next in a long line, has a hybrid approach as defensive coordinator

The Ravens don't pick a defensive coordinator.
The Ravens don't pick a defensive coordinator. They anoint one. The man who gets to run their defense is already well versed with its tradition, is an advocate of its core principles and is eminently familiar with its personalities. For Chuck Pagano,...

5. The nine teams that can win the Super Bowl in 2011

I'm not very good at making preseason predictions. Two years ago, I picked the Giants to beat the Chargers in the Super Bowl. Last season, I wrote a column saying the Ravens would go all the way, and they might have had they not fallen apart against the Steelers. This year, I'm feeling good about the Patriots and the Packers -- and yes, I felt that way before Thursday night -- but considering my track record, neither will win it all in 2011.

9. Time to start answering bell

Have the Eagles assembled the "Dream Team," or is this another fantasy football roster built to disappoint? That's just one of the pressing questions heading into this NFL season. A few of the others: Did the lockout truly favor those teams with an...

11. The Ravens' receiver plan sure blew up in their faces, didn't it?

In a recent item on Pro Football Talk, Mike Florio wrote that the Ravens' free-agency gamble -- releasing veterans Willis McGahee, Todd Heap, Derrick Mason and Kelly Gregg -- blew up on them. Each player opted to sign elsewhere instead of staying here at a reduced rate, leaving the Ravens looking for replacements.

15. Scouting report: Ravens vs. Rams

RAVENS RUN OFFENSE VS. RAMS RUN DEFENSE: The Rams' rush defense is last in the NFL, having surrendered an average of 177.5 yards. St. Louis could be the ideal opponent for the Ravens to reestablish their running game, which was ineffective last week in the loss to the Tennessee Titans. To get Ray Rice going, the Ravens will have to account for Rams middle linebacker James Laurinaitis, who made 14 tackles last week and led the Rams with 129 tackles last season. Veteran defensive tackle Fred Robbins' main responsibility is occupying blockers and keeping them off Laurinaitis. The return of guard Ben Grubbs would certainly be a nice boost for the Ravens. If he remains out with a toe injury, the Ravens could start Mark LeVoir, who got the call last week, or use Andre Gurode. The Ravens have averaged 107.5 yards on the ground, 12th in the NFL
