1. What's going on with Wes Welker and the Patriots?

When the New England Patriots offense first took the field against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, they did so without their leading receiver from their previous five seasons. But Wes Welker wasn’t injured. He stood on the sideline as Julian Edelman took his place as the team’s starting wide receiver opposite Brandon Lloyd.

  3. Commentary: Havre de Grace native officiates NFL game

Well, alrighty then. While we enjoyed what Week 2 had to offer on the courts, greens and fields last week, we also were brought back to football, NFL style. Now, I know many of you are bubbling over with excitement because of the Ravens' fine start,...

  5. Bengals WR A.J. Green owns big-play potential

In the NFL, there's a general rule of thumb that it takes a wide receiver three years to reach his potential. As with almost every rule, there are exceptions, and the Ravens will meet one of those exceptions Monday night when the Cincinnati Bengals visit M&T Bank Stadium.

  9. One of these 12 teams will win the Super Bowl

This week, each of the 32 NFL teams will start their seasons with renewed hope and dozens of reasons -- real or imagined -- to believe that they will be the ones leaving their sweaty fingerprints on the Lombardi Trophy at season’s end. But let’s be honest here: Most of those teams won’t come remotely close to touching it.

Divas still in demand Ron Fritz Baltimore Sun Will Chad Johnson get another shot in the NFL? I hope not. The tired acts of Terrell Owens, Plaxico Burress and Johnson need to be shelved for good. After allegedly assaulting his wife, Johnson should worry...

  15. Ravens not expected to be interested in Ochocinco

Chad Ochocinco was cut by the New England Patriots on Thursday. Since there is always a small sector of the fan base who clamors for over-the-hill, me-first wide receivers (see Terrell Owens and Randy Moss), let’s go ahead and shoot down any speculation: The Ravens aren’t going to make a play for the Twitter-happy wideout.

  17. Turn to Team NBC for most complete Preakness TV coverage

Last year, 8.8 million viewers saw NBC’s coverage of the Preakness. That’s the kind of big-tent mass audience that makes the race one of Baltimore’s showcase events. And that doesn’t count the hundreds of thousands who will watch pre- and post-race coverage on the NBC Sports Network cable channel.

  21. Mocking the Ravens: all eight of their draft picks

I love mocking, which is why I have produced five first-round mock drafts in the past two months (and it’s why I have greeted your criticism of said mock drafts with an aw-shucks shrug of the shoulders). In my latest first-round mock, which was released Tuesday night, I had the Ravens selecting Alabama linebacker Dont’a Hightower with the 29th pick in the NFL draft. Why stop there? How about I project all eight of their picks?

  23. Preston: Randy Moss wouldn't be bad for a year or two

There is speculation the Ravens have interest in receiver Randy Moss, and I have no problems with the team trying to pursue him as long as they don't mortgage away the future. I can't see the Ravens doing that because that's not general manager Ozzie Newsome's style. Even though Moss has been away from the game for a short time, he's still probably one of the fastest receivers in the league, and all opposing defenses have to respect speed. At the right price, I wouldn't mind seeing him line up opposite Torrey Smith with Anquan Boldin in the slot. The Ravens had similar plans for Lee Evans last year, but he spent most of 2011 on the sideline with a high ankle sprain.
