1. ESPN's Wiley says Ravens' Reed, Lewis are still leaders on 'D'

I reached out to ESPN analyst Marcellus Wiley to chat with him about the "aging" Ravens defense for a story that ran in Saturday's newspaper, but I didn't hear from Wiley until after I had sent my story into my editors Friday night (I'll cut Marcellus some slack since he's operating on West Coast time). Anyway, I still wanted to pass along his thoughts, especially since he thinks the Ravens will contend for a Super Bowl again this season.

  3. Following NFL rules, Ravens flood injury report

In the wake of the NFL fining the Ravens $20,000 for failing to list free safety Ed Reed’s torn shoulder labrum on injury reports, the team deluged Wednesday’s injury report by placing a season-high 15 players on it.

  11. Looking at defenders recently drafted by the Ravens

The numbers aren’t pretty. Through six games, the Ravens are allowing nearly 400 total yards per game and rank near the bottom of the league in a handful of major categories. Sure, they have given up 19.7 points per game, 11th in the NFL, which partially explains why the Ravens are 5-1. But things have been so rough for the defense these past two games, that no one has used their ranking in scoring defense as a crutch this week.
