Eagles begin trimming roster, trade Barkley

They likely won't have any official announcement until Saturday, Sept. 5, but the Philadelphia Eagles already have begun to trim their roster on their way to the NFL-mandated limit of 53. Included among their subtractions is quarterback Matt Barkley, who was traded to the Arizona Cardinals. If Barkley spends at least six games on the roster this season, the Eagles will get a seventh-round pick in return, according to ESPN. They receive nothing if Barkley falls short of that number. Barkley's exit clears the way for Tim Tebow to become the third quarterback after outperforming Barkley every which way in a 24-18 loss to the New York Jets to close the preseason Thursday night. ...
