By Jeff ZrebiecStory | Jul 30, 2012 | 4:00 AMRavens left tackle Bryant McKinnie is in town and will be at the Under Armour Performance Center today, but it’s still too early to assume that he will regain his starting left tackle spot. That is because the Ravens have to find out whether he’s healthy enough and in good enough condition to get out on the field. Remember, that was the issue with McKinnie all along before the big left tackle’s absence prompted all sorts of theories about why he didn’t report for training camp. And now, not only will he have to pass the conditioning test and show team officials that he’s in good enough shape, he’s also going to have to prove his back is healthy. McKinnie told reporters the past few days that he hurt his back in an accident at home, and that’s why he didn’t show up for the first full-team workout last week.

With tackle Jason Peters presumably out for the season (or at least the first half for sure, barring divine intervention), the focus has naturally shifted to the available free agents out there. And no doubt a few of them --...

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESSStory | Oct 31, 2011 | 2:37 AMKANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — It was the season opener at the renovated Arrowhead Stadium, a marquee Monday night showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Diego Chargers. Played through driving wind and rain, the Chiefs hit San Diego with two long touchdown strikes and then stopped Philip Rivers in the shadow of the goal line four times in the final minute to preserve a 21-14 victory — one that spurred Kansas City to the AFC West title. One that played a big role in ending the Chargers&...

By Brad Biggs, Chicago Tribune reporterStory | Nov 21, 2011The quarterbacks didn't want to make it into their duel but that's what Sunday's meeting at Soldier Field came down to — Jay Cutler and Philip Rivers squaring off in a showdown of gunslingers. After the Bears prevailed 31-20 over Cutler's former rival in the AFC West, they are fully focused on what the franchise's future could look like without the franchise quarterback. A team that has been blessed with terrific health since the start of 2010 is reeling as Cutler suffered a broken thumb on his...
Story | Dec 1, 2011 | 8:05 PMSAN DIEGO - The Chargers are hoping their unsettled offensive line becomes a little more settled Monday in Jacksonville. As the Chargers try to shake their six-game losing streak, they got some encouraging news from Thursday's practice. It wasn't all good, but the way things have been going for the last-place Chargers, they can't be picky. Offensive lineman Tyronne Green, who has missed the past two games, was able to work and it looks as if he will play Monday. Although just where he lines up remains a...
Story | Dec 31, 2011 | 12:26 AMThe Chargers first have a season-ending game Sunday in Oakland, as they attempt to finish .500 and ruin the Raiders' chances of making the playoffs. Then an offseason of change begins, with the status of general manager A.J. Smith and coach Norv Turner at the top of list. But it is also possible the Chargers will be looking at rebuilding three-fifths of their front line. Center Nick Hardwick told the San Diego Union-Tribune that he is considering retirement after the season. Hardwick is set to become...
