M&T Bank Stadium

Highlights
M&T Bank Stadium

M&T Bank Stadium is the home of the Baltimore Ravens. It is located at the south point of Camden Yards on Russell Street. The stadium opened in 1998 and was originally called Ravens Stadium at Camden Yards. From 1999-2002, it was known as PSINet Stadium. The Ravens franchise inked a 20-year deal with the internet service provider, but when PSINet went bankrupt in 2002, a new name was needed. In 2003, Buffalo, N.Y.-based M&T Bank bought the naming rights to Ravens Stadium for 15 years. The stadium was completed in 1998, costing roughly $220 million. M&T Bank Stadium has a capacity of 71,008, which includes 119 suites and 8,196 club seats. The Ravens' first regular season NFL game in their new... Show more »

The Ravens' first regular season NFL game in their new stadium was on Sept. 6, 1998 -- a 20-13 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. M&T Bank Stadium has also hosted several college football games, including two Army-Navy games (2000, 2007), a Maryland-Georgia Tech matchup and several Morgan State games. The 2003 and 2004 NCAA Lacrosse tournaments were played there, and numerous concerts have been held at the stadium over the years. All four Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association high school football championship games are held at the stadium. In addition to the state championships, two regular season Baltimore high school games are played at M&T Bank Stadium each year -- City vs. Poly in the one of country's oldest high school football rivalries, and the Turkey Bowl matchup between Loyola and Calvert Hall. « Show less

  3. Each Ravens player prepares for the first whistle his own way

It's Sunday morning, not quite 8. Sunlight is peeking through the blinds in the Hyatt Regency Hotel room on Light Street where offensive lineman Marshal Yanda stays before every Ravens home game. His eyes are open. He might try to fall back to sleep, but the nervous energy pulsing through his body will make it tough.

  6. Five Things We Learned in the Ravens 20-13 playoff win over the Texans

    1. There is nothing wrong with conceding that Ed Reed and Ray Lewis aren't the players they once were. I don't even think that statement is really all that controversial. No man can outrun the steady march of time, not even the two greatest defensive players of this era. But in a way, I'm more fascinated watching Reed and Lewis now than I was when they were both in their prime. Because they're both still capable of conjuring up a little magic. There is something admirable about watching a great lion dig deep and mount one final, furious charge. Perfection is unnecessary. All that matters is that you live to fight another day.

  14. Like/dislike: Nick Prevas

Nick Prevas is truly an “artist of all trades.” The 30-year-old Charles Village resident writes and directs films, works on graphic design projects, plays guitar and sings in the band White Lodge. He even handles communications and media for the American Visionary Arts Museum. Originally from Highland, Prevas tells b that there’s no place he’d rather be than Baltimore: “There’s just an energy to our city like no place else. I lived in L.A. for a few years and couldn’t ever get the vibe there like I can in Charm City. There’s no pretense (most of the time), you can connect with genuinely creative and talented people and there’s some weird inspiration I get from living here that just can’t be put down in words.” Through that inspiration, Prevas creates film shorts and music videos that have been shown at festivals and galleries across the country. Most recently, he co-produced a video of artist Scott Weaver showing his 100,000+ toothpick sculpture, “Rolling Through the Bay,” which you can see looping in AVAM’s current exhibition “All Things Round.” On Saturday, Prevas will perform with White Lodge at the Windup Space in a tribute to Tom Waits. Here, he talks to us about Soul Cannon (who he created album art for), his dislike for romantic comedies and the ambiguity of fanny packs.

  20. Mike Preston: Ravens need to return training camp to Westminster

Instead of giving Ravens fans the game ball, head coach John Harbaugh should give them training camp in Westminster, Md. again.Harbaugh made a nice gesture after Saturday's win against Cleveland, and he presented fans with a game ball. He said the ball would be on display over at The Castle. The presentation was made to the fans because the Ravens finished the 2011 season undefeated at home.I'm sure fans appreciate this honor even though Harbaugh alienated quite a few of them when the Ravens announced several weeks ago they weren't going to have training camp in Westminster any longer. But if he really wanted to show how much he appreciates them he should re-open training camp in Westminster. According to Ravens president Dick Cass, it's not a money issue but a convience issue.Well, the Ravens sell out every game in Baltimore and they travel well. M&T Bank Stadium is also one of the loudest in the NFL. To put training camp back in Westminster might be the biggest tribute the Ravens could pay the fans.It basically comes down to Harbaugh. If he wants training camp in Westminster, he gets it. It is deserved.A game ball is nice, but training camp is where the game in this city becomes generational. Fans comes from different states. They plan their vacation time around training camp. Memories are made there.A game ball? How about handing Baltimore back its tradition.
