Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. insisted that he didn’t start thinking about reaching the 1,000-catch milestone until last season. As it turned out, a season-ending Achilles’ tendon injury last November only delayed the inevitable.
Smith became the 14th player in NFL history to hit the 1,000-catch plateau when he hauled in an 22-yard pass from Joe Flacco on the first play from scrimmage in the third quarter of the Ravens’ game today against the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium.
Smith, as he promised in an interview with The Sun last Wednesday, tossed the ball toward the sideline for safekeeping.
