The epitome of a high school rivalry game was on display at Pascal Field in Annapolis Friday night. Severn and St. Mary's engaged in a back-and-forth fourth quarter that set the tone for what promises to be a strong 2017 campaign.
Sean Phelan kicked a 24-yard field goal, his fourth of the game and third of the second half, with 1 minute 11 seconds to play, to give the host Saints a 22-20 victory to close out the regular season.
"That was one of the best games I have ever been a part of," Severn coach Chris Kirchenheiter said. "I am proud of our boys for never giving up, and St. Mary's made some really nice plays at the end to get the win."
