  1. Ravens are middling team at midseason

It's midseason, and it's at this point when the good teams start separating themselves from the bad ones. The Ravens are in no-man's land. They aren't good. They aren't bad. They're average, and no one can tell where they're heading.

  3. Rolle warns about sticking your neck out

Ravens cornerback Samari Rolle sits in his home in Florida and wears a neck brace. In 12 years in the NFL, he has never seen so many players at one position with a similar injury. During the past two seasons, starting safeties Ed Reed and Dawan Landry,...

  5. Decade-long rivalry pits Lewis against Taylor again

Ravens middle linebacker Ray Lewis and New England Patriots running back Fred Taylor need no introductions. From 1998 through 2001, they regularly bumped heads when the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Ravens both played in the old AFC Central. In the early...

No one associated with the Ravens is saying publicly that offensive tackle Jared Gaither will be the next Jonathan Ogden.
No one associated with the Ravens is saying publicly that offensive tackle Jared Gaither will be the next Jonathan Ogden. Ogden, however, said the comparison is not that far-fetched. "Yeah, I do," Ogden said Tuesday when asked if he sees a lot of...

  11. Forgotten linebacker comes to the fore

The Ravens have so much depth at linebacker that the competition for a backup position is just as intense as for earning a starting spot. It has gotten extremely fierce on the inside where second-year player Tavares Gooden appears to be a starter, but he...

  13. For rookie Oher, some nerves, but no hesitation

Hours before he makes his way to M&T Bank Stadium for the Ravens' season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday, Michael Oher will experience something that he hasn't felt since he was a precocious freshman trying to find his place at Mississippi.

  17. Ravens, other teams on the lookout for speed

Every team in the NFL covets speed. Al Davis can't get enough of it. Wide receivers have to have it. Defensive backs' job security depends on it. The best teams all have it in generous supply.

  21. UConn-Syracuse 6-OT Thriller Named Game Of The Decade

The Sporting News is out with a new collection of lists, this time focusing on top athletes and teams of the past decade. As one might expect, UConn has its place in college basketball. The 2009 Big East Conference tournament quarterfinal between UConn and Syracuse that went six overtimes - eventually won by the Orange - was named the game of the decade. UConn All-American Emeka Okafor was named to the all-decade second team.

    Watchdog
Gotta admire Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni's honesty in admitting he was disappointed not to land Stephen Curry Thursday night. At least the Knicks said nice things about Jordan Hill. In 1996, the Giants' decisionmakers displayed a glaring lack of passion......
