1. Ravens special teams have been close to special thus far

Like many of his colleagues, Ravens coach John Harbaugh is leery about drawing conclusions about his team after reaching the quarter pole of the 2012 campaign. But after watching the Ravens make improvements across the board in nearly every special teams category, Harbaugh is cautiously optimistic about what he has seen on the field.

  3. Game 4: Ravens' defense clamps down on Jets in 34-17 win

The reminder to their former defensive coordinator and a nationally-televised audience came with every punishing hit of Mark Sanchez, every crushing tackle of one of the New York Jets, and every ball that either bounced off the turf or fluttered in the air before winding up in their hands.

  5. Back to drawing board for special teams

The Ravens matched a franchise worst when they surrendered their third return for a touchdown this season, which ties lows set in 1998 and duplicated in 2002.

  11. After solid first quarter, Flacco flounders vs. Jets

As great as the Ravens' defense was Sunday night – and it was magnificent in a 34-17 rout of the New York Jets – it was the resourcefulness of quarterback Joe Flacco on third down that helped Baltimore land critical early blows in this bare-knuckle fight.

  13. Ravens special teams suffers hiccup with long kick return

Any momentum the Ravens had gained from their opening touchdown against the New York Jets nearly evaporated in a span of 15 seconds Sunday night.

  15. Harbaugh pledges to fix kick coverage

In the end, Joe McKnight’s 107-yard kick return for a touchdown in the first quarter didn’t haunt the Ravens in their 34-17 dusting of the New York Jets Sunday night.

  17. How the Ravens got here: A recap of the first four games

The Ravens are in an enviable position as they head into their bye weekend. They are 3-1 and in first place of the AFC North. They have already beaten the two teams — Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Jets — that played for the conference championship last season, and they've done it by a combined 69-24 score. Up next are the Houston Texans in another potential playoff preview game.

  21. Jeff Zrebiec's Ravens-Texans scouting report

RAVENS RUN OFFENSE VS. TEXANS RUN DEFENSE: Fullback Vonta Leach, who spent four seasons with the Texans, has undoubtedly given his Ravens’ teammates and coaches plenty of advice on how to run the ball against Houston. The Texans’ rush defense is surrendering 105.8 yards a game, which puts it 12th in the NFL. Houston did slow the Oakland Raiders’ Darren McFadden last week, holding him to 51 yards on 16 carries. Ravens coach John Harbaugh said that that team talked extensively this week about its identity, and maintaining an aggressive approach. Expect that to include a heavy dose of Ray Rice, who rushed for only 54 yards against the Texans last season but did catch eight passes for 66 yards. The Ravens are ninth in the league in rushing, averaging 123.8 yards per game. They got their ground game going late in the victory over the New York Jets, running on 11 straight plays at one point. The Ravens could get a boost if left guard Ben Grubbs returns after missing three weeks with a toe injury. Linebackers Brian Cushing and DeMeco Ryans are the Texans’ top tacklers.

  23. Quick hits: Cam Cameron turns the heat down with half-time adjustments

In an exciting game that was a tale of two halves, the Ravens did something they had never done before after spending the first two quarters repeating the kind of mistakes they made in Monday night’s loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. When Billy Cundiff beat the buzzer with a chip-shot field goal on Sunday, the Ravens beat the Arizona Cardinals, 30-27, officially overcoming a 21-point deficit -- a new franchise comeback record.
